Pioneer, Century and First Family Certificates

(Non-members may apply and receive certificates upon qualification!)

Pioneer Certificate:

To qualify for the Pioneer Certificate applicants must have ancestors that lived in Siskiyou County during the years of 1850-1880. (Please see qualifications listed below.)

Please note: Siskiyou County was originally part of Shasta County. The County Seat was such a distance from the Yreka area that the residents decided to split from Shasta County, and thus Siskiyou County was formed in 1852. Later, in 1874, residents of the eastern portion of Siskiyou County split off and formed Modoc County. Because of this history, we consider pioneers living in these other areas between the years of 1850-1874 to be Siskiyou County residents, and their descendents are qualified to receive a Siskiyou Pioneer Certificate.

Century Certificate:

To qualify for the Century Certificate applicants must have ancestors that lived in Siskiyou County during the years of 1881-1910. (Please see qualifications listed below.)

To qualify for either the Pioneer or Century Certificate:

Submit the following:

  • A family descendent chart direct from your ancestor to you.
  • Proof of descendant's residency in the appropriate time period.
  • Documentation to prove lineage. Details for documentation may be found on application for certificates. (See below for downloadable form)
  • $15 fee for the first certificate, $8 for a second certificate using the same ancestor and applied at same time.
